Thayer County Bank is an independent community bank now in its fifth generation of family ownership. The bank was founded in 1874, just eleven years after President Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address during the Civil War. We are the oldest State Chartered Bank in the State of Nebraska. Our family came to Hebron to start a mill along the Little Blue River. Receivables from the grist buyers and payables to the farmers for their grain made a perfect match for banking. From this early beginning, our family and staff have roots deep in the community in which we make our living.
