News
Thayer County is a prime Midwest location within a day’s drive of many popular metropolitan areas. Its low cost of living and doing business, rich agricultural assets, and strong workforce should also make it known for its strong community. The residents of Thayer County bond together to build, create, and thrive. The community understands when we work together, we rise together.
Big Give Thayer County
The holiday season is a great time for gifting and giving, and this year marks Big Give Thayer County’s third anniversary of celebrating, uplifting, and donating to local charities and nonprofits.
Big Give Thayer County is a communitywide fundraiser that assists local charities and nonprofits to achieve their goals while improving the lives within our community. When you donate to your favorite charity/nonprofit, you’re contributing to:
- Preserving Thayer County’s history
- Caring for the sick and less fortunate
- Inspiring the next generation
- Protecting Thayer County’s identity
- Spreading holiday cheer
Big Give Thayer County not only brings individuals together, it also connects businesses and organizations to support local charities/nonprofits. Every dollar counts! Whether you’re donating ten (minimum donation), hundreds, or thousands of dollars, your donation is not only gifting a charity/nonprofit, you’re investing in the future of Thayer County and will feel good doing so.
Big Give Thayer County started November 18, 2024, and runs through December 3, 2024. Ways to donate:
- Online donations
- Mail a check dated December 1, 2024, to your favorite organization or TCEDA’s PO Box
- Hand deliver a check dated December 1, 2024, to your organization of choice or one of the drop-off locations
The Holiday Season Is Here
The holiday season starts November 1st and runs through January 1st. Regardless of religion or celebratory choices, our nation becomes the happiest during this time. It’s also a time when shopping, sharing, giving, and giving back are most plentiful. The following November days are the most popular:
- Veteran’s Day
- Thanksgiving
- Black Friday
- Small Business Saturday/Sunday
- Cyber Monday
- Giving Tuesday
Although some days are geared toward shopping and businesses offer themed sales, whether you’re shopping locally for unique gifts, or having a great meal at a local restaurant with visiting family and friends, or spending time with veterans sharing past stories, each day offers a time of togetherness, community building, and bonding.
Shop local first and always. Roughly $0.68 of each dollar spent at a local business or with a local service provider is recycled back into the community. Yes, Shop Local is more than a phrase, it’s a purposeful movement that benefits all.
Remember to donate to Big Give Thayer County and we’ll see you December 1, 2024, at the Big Give Thayer County Family Event. Follow TCEDA’s Facebook page for more information to come.
