FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This year’s event featured 23 local businesses representing a diverse range of industries — from the trades and manufacturing to real estate, healthcare, and banking. Approximately 75 sophomore students from all three county schools — Deshler Public School, Bruning-Davenport USD, and Thayer Central Community Schools — participated in the event.

"The exposure to different careers and the opportunity to connect with potential future employers was a great experience for our sophomores.  The three different speakers were also outstanding in their presentation on quality impressions for a job interview. Thank you TCEDA for organizing such a quality event." said Taylor Biehl, Guidance Counselor at Thayer Central Community Schools.

The Career Fair was divided into two engaging sessions. During one session, students met face-to-face with business representatives to ask questions, learn about local career paths, and discover opportunities available right here in Thayer County. The other session featured a series of presentations focused on entrepreneurship, interview best practices, and resume building, giving students valuable insights into the skills and mindset needed to succeed in today’s workforce.

"We appreciate TCEDA for hosting a great career fair for the youth in our area! Thayer County Health Services loves supporting local students as they explore their future career paths. Events like this give us the chance to showcase the many opportunities available at TCHS and hopefully inspire our youth to return to the area to begin their healthcare careers," said Raven Gerths, TCHS Human Resources Director. “We were more than happy to talk about library opportunities. The most common question we repeatedly received was: What makes your job feel like a success? Easily answered, it is our community involvement and our library patrons.” said Kelly Spellman, Hebron Secrest Library Director.

The annual Career Fair is one of TCEDA’s key initiatives to strengthen local workforce development and build connections between education and business. By fostering relationships between students and employers, TCEDA hopes to inspire the next generation of Thayer County’s workforce and community leaders. If you are a local business that would like to participate in our event next year, please reach out to get on our list!
