As we end 2022, Thayer County Economic Development Alliance (TCEDA) would like to say, “Thank you, Thayer County” for supporting us, our business community, and for continuing to choose to Thrive in Thayer County. 

Thayer County Economic Development Alliance’s Goals

Each year, TCEDA’s goal is to enhance the quality of life through infrastructure, jobs, real estate, and community efforts to help evolve our county, making it sustainable and prosperous. TCEDA helps businesses focus on the following:

• Physical capital
• Natural resources
• Technology

Local businesses are the backbone of economic growth and with these four factors in proper positions, our county and communities will continue to be thriving places.  

Thayer County Economic Development Alliance’s Review of 2022

TCEDA was busy in 2022, and we are quite happy with what we were able to accomplish with the help of our communities. 

Broadband

TCEDA joined forces with Thayer County Commissioners and SENDD’s Broadband team to create Thayer County’s Broadband Action Team (BAT). BAT seeks solutions to increase broadband connectivity across the county. As we enter 2023, BAT continues to seek solutions for connectivity equality across Thayer County. Housing

Did you know TCEDA has a Downpayment Assistance loan program for homebuyers? Since 2020, we have helped over 10 buyers purchase new homes. As past DPA recipients sell their homes, the loan is repaid and it refills our DPA loan account. We would love the opportunity to help get you in a qualified house in the new year!. 

With the help of SENDD’s housing team, we applied for the Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund grant and were approved for $520,000. With these funds, TCEDA will build two affordable homes for qualified applicants. TCEDA then teamed up with the Thayer County Commissioners to provide more funding to build an additional two homes in this time frame. Construction is anticipated to start in the spring of 2023 and we can’t wait to see the progress and growth.

Childcare & Youth Outreach

TCEDA worked to navigate through licensing requirements, and funding opportunities, attending conferences, and other educational tours to learn how other state communities are working together to combat childcare needs. We worked closely with a few communities on their childcare landscape and future goals. We also applied for a Communities for Kids grant and will learn the results in 2023. 

Community Involvement

Our website launched in 2021 and since then, we’ve been working hard to improve and expand its reach by showcasing our community involvement and highlighting community members and business owners. 

• Eat Local - The flyer was revamped to include 2022 eateries
• Created a School-Industry Action Committee working with local industry, school, and community leaders to create a database of intern and job shadowing opportunities to share with schools. 
• Started the planning for Spring 2023 career and college fairs
• Gave support to the following communities for various initiatives; Deshler’s Leadership Certified Community, Byron’s Community Survey, Chester Community Club, Hebron Chamber Reboot, Davenport Community Survey, and Bruning’s Sales Tax and Park Improvement Project
• Helped coordinate non-profits and the website for Big Give Thayer County
