For months, if people in Southeast Nebraska needed a public place to clean their clothes, their only option was to get to the lone laundromat in Beatrice. But now, after nearly half a year of dormancy, the Fairbury Laundromat has reopened its doors, restoring an essential service to the local community.
The building on C Street in Fairbury has housed a public laundry service since the 1960s, but since the death of its previous owner late last summer, it’s sat dormant, and there isn’t another public cleaning center within 30 miles.
But now, the place that will soon be officially renamed Fairbury Laundromat, LLC is back open for business, under the direction of someone who has worked with appliances like this for 30 years.
